Romance Is A Bonus Book: An Ordinarily Beautiful Story

Directed by Lee Jung-hyo, Romance Is a Bonus Book (2019) is a slow-paced, character-driven rom-com that revolves around books, love, friendship, and, most importantly, second chances at life. Why I chose to write about it: A few years back, around 2021, when I tried watching it, I couldn’t connect with Romance Is a Bonus Book from the very first episode ( I know, I should have given it some time ). Fast forward to 2023, when I moved into new home, I randomly stumbled upon it on Netflix again—and I’m so glad I gave it another shot! It was one of the best decisions ever. This show isn’t some clingy cutesy love story. It’s a rare gem which shows the reality of Korean work culture and discovering love through gentle actions.   This show gave me a reality check on what will happen when you put yourself second ALL THE TIME.
